A self-defense session was organized by the JCI Bandora Marcaim for their student girls. Advocate Ms Alfiya, who is a Taekwondo instructor and a contributing member of Mission Nirbhaya, was invited to the event. The girls were enthused with the idea and were eager to learn how to protect themselves in a hostile situation. How would they be able to defend themselves in hostile situations? How to preserve food for survival

To preserve food in an emergency situation, drying is the best option. Drying foods removes moisture which makes them last longer. It also decreases the risk of bacteria growth.

Dry fruits are great snacks for emergencies because they don’t require preparation. You can take them with you and eat as many as you wish without worrying about weight gain.

While you can dry fruit at your home using a dehydrator and a sun oven, it's much more convenient to do so in a commercial setting. A solar oven can be used to dry many foods, such as meat, fish, and vegetables.

It is vital to make sure food is sealed tightly when it is being preserved. This prevents oxygen entering the container and spoiling it. The container can be sealed tight enough to prevent oxygen from entering the food.

If you do decide to add preservatives, try adding salt first. Salt prevents mold growth. Then follow this with vinegar. Vinegar kills bacteria and inhibits mold growth.

Start by cutting up your food in small pieces. You can use a kitchen knife or scissors. Pack everything carefully so there is no air in the container
