Mike Vilhauer's story

Mike Vilhauer spent a week lost in California's woods while he was fishing. He lost his way, and was heading back too late. To protect himself from the sun, he found shelter under a pine to stay warm. The next morning, he was hungry and dehydrated, so he drank from puddles. He wandered around the streets trying to find an escape route, but he was unsuccessful.

Mike was exhausted after five days hiking in the mountains. He had a realization. He wrote to his family, explaining his situation and apologizing for his mistakes. He saw a helicopter above him on Aug. 10. He raised his arms high in the air to draw the attention of the pilot who saw him and alerted search-and-rescue crews to his location. The rescue crews arrived from as many as nine counties including Nevada.

Adrian Knopps' story

After a brutal bear hunt, Adrian Knopps was left alone in Alaskan wilderness for seven days. This is the incredible story of wilderness survival. Knopps, who was separated from his friend, was in dire need of help. Knopps' partner had run off into the rife, leaving him alone and surrounded by bears and wolf packs. He was falling into hypothermia, hallucination and was being battered by 70-mph winds. Coast Guard officials stated that they'd not seen anyone survive in such harsh wilderness conditions.
